“Men as Trees Walking” (Mark 8:22-26): Is There an Old Testament Connection?

Jesus’ healing of the blind man in Mark 8:22-26 is different from Jesus’ other recorded healings because it takes place in two stages. After the first stage, the man reports seeing “men as trees walking”. This two-stage process is widely seen as corresponding to the disciples’ partial understanding of Jesus’ identity and mission at this time. But why does Mark record specifically that the men looked like trees?

In this article, I suggest that there may possibly be an Old Testament connection – in the “Rules for War” in Deut. Ch. 20, where there also seems to be a possibility of confusing men and trees!

Well – here is the article! All comments and corrections gratefully received!
