Zacchaeus and the Sycamore-Fig Tree in Luke 19:1-10: Typology, Intertextuality and Structure.

In this article, I suggest that the tree that Zacchaeus climbed was actually a type of fig tree, the sycamore-fig. If this is so, then the Zacchaeus narrative in these verses may have a place in the wider typology of fig trees found throughout Scripture, and I try to explore several of these possible connections. I also attempt a structural analysis of the passage.
