The Seven (or Eight?) Women in the Gospel of John

The Seven Women in John’s Gospel was a recent subject for the Scripture Study Group that meets monthly at one of the local churches in my area. For my contribution, I included a brief look three topics: i) Mary and Martha in connection with the raising of Lazarus, ii) the intriguing question as to whether Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene are one and the same person and iii) Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman. (I also looked at a further topic about which I hope to post shortly). In the time available, I was only able to present these three topics in outline form, but here is the handout I produced for the meeting which presents a fuller picture. I hope you will find it interesting!
