Looking at bible translations and commentaries on Romans, it is clear that the correct translation of Romans 15:8-9a is a contested topic!

In this series of articles, I wish to see whether various factors, including structural and contextual considerations, might help us towards a likely understanding of the passage, and consequently towards a reasonably accurate translation.
